Introduce
Hi, I'm Logan, Network Admin and Homelabber
I’m a driven Network Administrator with a passion for switching, cloud networking, and automation. I enjoy writing Python scripts to solve real-world problems and continuously grow my skills through homelabbing and hands-on projects.
I’m also an intermediate Linux user and self-host over 20 home lab services — from containerized apps to network monitoring — while building the skills I apply in the enterprise world every day.

About
My Tech Career Journey
My journey into technology started with a passion for video games. As a teenager, I wanted to switch from console to PC gaming — so I asked for individual components for Christmas and built my first computer from scratch. That hands-on experience sparked a deeper interest in how hardware and software worked together.
I began college as a Computer Science major, but quickly realized that software development wasn’t my path. After transferring to Southern Illinois University, I shifted to a broader IT focus, where I gravitated toward cybersecurity and Python. The turning point came when I joined the university’s Network Engineering department. There, I discovered a real interest in networking — solving real problems, configuring hardware, and keeping systems running smoothly.
To deepen my knowledge, I started building a home lab in my college apartment. What began as a curiosity quickly turned into a serious learning platform where I explored switching, routing, automation, and cloud technologies. These days, when I’m not working or gaming, you’ll find me experimenting with my home lab, testing new tools, or automating tasks with Python.
"I believe the best way to learn IT is by building, breaking, and rebuilding."

My Specializations
Networking
I work as a Network Administrator with 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure. My work includes Layer 2/3 switching, VLAN segmentation, ACLs, BGP/OSPF routing, and Cisco Nexus architecture.
Python Scripting
I write network automation tools and utilities in Python to streamline workflows, monitor devices, and improve operational efficiency. My scripting experience includes SSH automation, config backups, and interface monitoring.
Linux Administration
I use Linux daily — both as my desktop OS and for nearly all of my home lab services. I manage containers, monitor services, and troubleshoot network and system performance in Linux-based environments.
Cloud Networking (Azure)
I design and support hybrid network infrastructure using Azure services, including ExpressRoute, BGP with Azure Route Server, and integration with Palo Alto firewalls and Azure VMware Solutions.
Homelab Engineering
My homelab is a testing ground for real-world infrastructure. I self-host 20+ services using Docker, Portainer, and Linux servers — continually learning and testing new networking, automation, and security tools.
Network Security
I’ve led implementations of RSPAN/ERSPAN traffic mirroring for security monitoring and designed ACL-based segmentation strategies for enterprise environments. I actively explore best practices for secure, resilient infrastructure.
